Founded by a group of former 56th Bomb group members who believed that having fun was just as, or more important than strict military discipline, defected from A land to C land in hopes of having fun, enjoying the commeradery, but still enjoy the military simulation. For a new twist, Military and Football have joined together to add a new demension to the Air Warrior experience.
After many years flying in AW4W on AOL it all came to an abrupt end when, at the start of 1998, AOL annouced that it was cancelling its beta testing of AW4W and would start beta testing AW2 instead. Both versions were available at the same time for about a month but after this AW4W was stopped and AW2 then became a premium game costing $1.99 an hour.
We all decided that we wouldn't pay AOLs prices and moved the Squad over to Gamestorm where it only cost $9.99 a month to play AW2 and a host of other games. Soon after the move, the beta testing of AW3D at Bigweek, which had started in Dec' 97, stopped and became available at Gamestorm, thus forcing another move as AW2(which is AW3D but without 3D) was cancelled.
After some very turbulent months, before and after the move, the Squad settled down to be, once again, a Force to be Reckoned with in RRE1, but not for long, as in November '98 the decision was made to move the Squad to RRE2 because it was getting harder and harder to get into the arena as more and more Dweebs were taking to the air. <G>
